New Delhi. The Central Government has made major preparations towards providing relief to the employed people. Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) is going to launch two new facilities for crores of its members. This will make it easier to withdraw small amounts stuck in old inactive PF accounts. At the same time, employees will now also get the option of WhatsApp for many PF related services.
Both these facilities will be launched by Union Labor and Employment Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya on the occasion of 74th Foundation Day of EPFO on 1 November 2026.
First good news: PF money will come into account without claim
Under the new system of EPFO, automatic settlement will be done of such eligible inactive PF accounts in which the amount of Rs 1,000 or less is deposited. This means that the concerned employees will not need to make a separate claim to withdraw their money. Often, due to change of job or not using the PF account for a long time, small amounts remain lying in the old accounts. Many employees are not able to complete the claim process. Now with the system of automatic settlement, settlement of such accounts will become easier.
Second good news: PF services will be available on WhatsApp
The second new facility of EPFO is related to digital services. Under this, members will also be able to avail PF related facilities through WhatsApp. This initiative can reduce the hassle of employees having to visit EPFO office again and again for general information and services. However, complete information about which services will be available on WhatsApp and how to use them is expected to be available at the time of launch.
Number of members reached 7.98 crores
According to EPFO data, the number of contributing members in the financial year 2014-15 was 3.49 crore. By September 16, 2026, it increased to about 7.98 crores. At the same time, by September 2026, the number of contributing establishments had reached 7.68 lakh. There has also been an increase in the expansion of social security. According to available data, social security coverage was 19 percent in the year 2015, which increased to 68.4 percent in 2026.

Both these initiatives of EPFO are considered important towards making PF services easy and digital. Automatic settlement of eligible dormant accounts with small amounts can provide relief to employees from the lengthy claim process. At the same time, with the launch of WhatsApp service, access to information and facilities related to PF is expected to become easier.
