Saarcbrucken, Nov 2:
Double Olympic medallist PV Sindhu clinched her second title of the season with a commanding straight-games victory over Denmark’s Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt in the women’s singles final of the Hylo Open Super 500 badminton tournament on Sunday.
The second-seeded Indian defeated the world No. 25 and eighth-seeded Dane 21-12, 21-14 in 39 minutes to lift the title in Germany and collect 9,200 ranking points.
Sindhu, currently ranked world No. 8, controlled the final with her attacking strokes and precise returns. After a closely fought start to the opening game, she moved ahead 11-8 at the interval and maintained her advantage to take it 21-12.
The second game followed a similar pattern, with Sindhu keeping the Dane under pressure and preventing her from building sustained momentum. She closed out the contest 21-14 to complete a convincing win.
“It was important for me to give my 100 per cent irrespective of who the opponent was. We’ve played a lot of times and for me it was important that I focus on every point,” Sindhu said after the victory.
The title comes a week after Sindhu finished runner-up at the French Open, where she lost to world No. 1 An Se Young. She had earlier won the Japan Open in July, making the Hylo Open her second BWF World Tour title of the year.
Sindhu said the victory had given her a major confidence boost and credited her team for helping her through difficult periods. The 9,200 points will also strengthen her bid to qualify for the season-ending BWF World Tour Finals.
The Indian entered the final with a 6-1 head-to-head advantage over Kjaersfeldt, whose only previous win against Sindhu came at the 2025 Sudirman Cup Finals.
