Punjab ASI Suspended Heroin Planting Incident Uncovered

Khanna police in Punjab have suspended Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sukhdev Singh of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) staff after spy camera footage caught him allegedly planting heroin to frame local Shiv Sena (Punjab) leader Mahant Kashmir Giri.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr Darpan Ahluwalia ordered the cop’s immediate suspension and initiated a departmental inquiry while discharging Giri from the case.

The conspiracy began following the arrest of Giri’s driver, Gurjant Singh, who was caught with 7.5 grams of heroin. During interrogation, Giri’s name surfaced, setting the plot into motion. On Saturday afternoon, ASI Sukhdev Singh entered Giri's home near Khatikan Chowk in plain clothes.

Unbeknownst to him, a hidden camera recorded him placing a packet under a mattress. Shortly after, a police team raided the premises, “discovered” 30 grams of heroin at the exact spot, and arrested the leader.

The frame-up unravelled on Saturday evening when senior officials reviewed the retrieved footage. Following formal confirmation on Sunday, SSP Ahluwalia officially suspended the ASI and constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT), headed by an SP-rank officer, to reconstruct the sequence of events and investigate the role of all involved police personnel.
