Greater Noida, 1 November: Aryan Narola of Goa Aces JA Racing won both F4 Indian Championship races on Sunday, and Ruhaan Alva of Kichcha’s Kings Bengaluru won the second Indian Racing League (IRL) race, as the Indian Racing Festival finished its two-day round at the Buddh International Circuit.

On Saturday, Raoul Hyman of Goa Aces JA Racing won the opening IRL race and Ntiyiso Mabunda of Speed Demons Delhi won the first F4 race. The weekend was Round 2 of the IRL and Round 4 of the F4 Indian Championship.

Saturday: Hyman and Mabunda win

Hyman, from Britain, passed Emil Heyerdahl of Kichcha’s Kings Bengaluru for the lead and stayed in front to win IRL Race 1 in 27:40.759. Sai Shiva Sankaran of Kolkata Royal Tigers came through late to take second in 27:55.806, just ahead of Jemma Moore of Kichcha’s Kings Bengaluru in 27:56.070.

Chennai Turbo Riders’ Tijil Rao recovered from eighth to second, but his car broke down on the final lap.

In F4 Race 1, Narola started third and took the lead from Mabunda and Arjun Chheda early on. Mabunda fought back to regain the lead and then held off fellow South African Luviwe Sambudla of Goa Aces JA Racing to win in 32:46.842.

Sunday: Narola’s double

Swarnav Das led the first F4 race of the day until Narola passed him on the second lap. Sambudla moved past Das and closed on Narola, but an engine problem forced him to retire with a couple of laps left. Narola won from Aris Kyriakou, who had overtaken Das, with Mabunda third.

Narola led the second F4 race from the start. Chheda tried several times to pass him but finished second, with Mabunda third again.

Alva wins IRL Race 2

Shane Chanderia passed Alva and led the second IRL race for several laps before car trouble put him out of contention. Alva took over at the front and won, with Mohamed Ryan of Hyderabad Blackbirds second and Malaysian driver Alister Yoong of Speed Demons Delhi third.

Sambudla had arrived at Buddh with a 21-point lead in the F4 standings.
