Hair faces a lot of heat during the wedding season, like open curls at the Haldi ceremony, straight hair at the sangeet, and a heavy bun on the wedding day. During this time, there is so much heat on the hair, which does not happen on normal days. As a result, hair becomes dry, split and starts breaking. But this does not mean that styling has to be compromised. You can keep your hair safe by following some simple measures.

Hair is mainly made of a protein called keratin. When you use a straightener or curling rod, it weakens or breaks the protein bonds, allowing the hair to take a new shape. Due to this type of heat, hair starts getting damaged.
Pre-styling preparation
If you want to style hair, always use the straightener on dry hair and set it to low or medium temperature. Using a straightener on wet hair is most harmful, because wet hair breaks quickly.
Always use a heat protectant, available as a spray or cream, before styling. It should be applied all over the hair, especially the ends.
After washing your hair, instead of rubbing it with a towel, wrap it in a towel or an old cotton t-shirt to absorb the water. Allow the hair to dry on its own for some time before using a blow-dryer.
Things to keep in mind while styling
When you're done styling, hold the strands on the curling rod for only a second or two. When using a straightener, take thin strands one at a time and go through them slowly.
If you're going to a parlor, ask the stylist to keep the temperature low and ensure that a heat protectant is used.
How to relax your hair between functions
Do not use heat stylers on your hair on days when there is no function. When washing hair, apply shampoo only to the scalp and conditioner to the lengths and ends of the hair. Detangle tangled hair with a wide-tooth comb. Sleep with the bun or pin open at night.
If there are functions for three-four consecutive days, there is no need for a new heat style every day. A good look can also be achieved by lightly combing the curls or making a loose braid.
