Ruhullah alleged that Omar Abdullah has changed his stand on the issue of Article 370 under pressure from BJP. There were differences between Ruhullah and Abdullah families for a long time. Seeing Ruhullah's rebellious attitude, Farooq Abdullah had challenged him to resign from the Parliament and contest the elections again. Farooq had said, we will know how to get votes. While publicly signing his resignation, Ruhullah said, I am signing the document of my freedom. I am not a part of the National Conference since 2:40 pm today. Agha Syed Ruhullah Mehdi has left the party and MP at a time when already about 24 National Conference MLAs have threatened to leave the party. Actually, there is resentment among the MLAs regarding the cabinet expansion of Omar Abdullah on October 27. The MLAs have given a 14-day ultimatum to the party high command and have also formed a delegation of 4 MLAs led by Gurez MLA Nazir Ahmed Gureji and Thanamandi MLA Muzaffar Iqbal Khan who will meet Omar Abdullah and submit a memorandum of the demands of the MLAs.
