New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of Pune Metro projects worth about Rs 21,800 crore through video conferencing. During this, Modi today said that India is the country which is the fastest growing economy and also the country which is reducing poverty the fastest. These two achievements are related to each other. India's economy is growing rapidly. India's budget is increasing. More investment is being made on the countrymen. The money which earlier went into scams, nepotism and leakages, is now reaching the beneficiaries directly. When the country's treasury money is spent on roads, rail, airport, metro, when the government increases investment on electricity, water and gas pipelines, then people's lives improve and their employment opportunities also increase.

PM Modi said, today India is being discussed a lot in the world due to two more reasons. India continued its fastest growth even in difficult global circumstances. Secondly, within just 10-12 years, 50 crore people in India have overcome extreme poverty. This has come to light in the latest report of the World Bank. Many generations of the country have grown up amidst promises and claims of eradicating poverty. Earlier the fight against poverty was only in slogans, today India has defeated poverty on the ground.

Modi said that in the last 12 years, metro transport in the country has been transformed. Whereas in 2014 the metro route was 248 kilometers, today it has increased to about 1,200 kilometers. In 2014, metro services were available only in five cities, today metro is running in 26 cities of the country. Now more than one crore people travel by metro every day. Today, the Indian metro network is counted among the top three metro networks in the world.
