According to media reports, the reason for the increase in prices is the action taken against fake ghee in Gujarat-Rajasthan, after which the demand for this brand has increased. Due to this, the benefit of GST cut of September 2025 has also reduced considerably. 500 butter has become costlier by Rs 15. The price of half kg butter has now increased from Rs 310 to Rs 325.

Prices were reduced in September last year

According to the report, this price has been increased due to increasing demand and supply shortage of Amul's cow ghee in the market. Earlier, after the reduction in GST rate in September 2025, Amul had also reduced the prices of 700 dairy products. GST on dairy products was reduced from 12 percent to 5 percent. At that time the price of one liter carton of ghee had reduced from Rs 650 to Rs 610. The price of 5 liter ghee had reduced from Rs 3,275 to Rs 3,075. At the same time, the price of 100 gram pack of butter had reduced from Rs 62 to Rs 58. The price of half a kilo of ghee had come down from Rs 305 to Rs 285.
