Hackers recently manipulated internet-connected freezers at major European retail chains, raising a freezer’s temperature from minus 25 to 50 degrees Celsius and destroying roughly 100,000 euros of food at a single store. On AI With Sanket show, experts Colonel Rajiv Agarwal, Kanishk Gaur and Sanjay Sahay said the incident shows how connected devices, industrial machinery and critical infrastructure can become weapons, letting attackers disrupt economies without conventional force.
In India, the panel argued that cybersecurity is treated as an afterthought and a cost rather than a necessity. As everyday and industrial systems become more connected, their security becomes a matter of public and national safety, and India must build infrastructure that is secure by design.
