India ODI captain Shubman Gill took to social media after the team secured a five-wicket win over New Zealand in the series opener at Eden Park on Wednesday.
Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers, taking four wickets. Gurnoor Brar was also impressive with the ball, and he went on to dismiss three batters. In the batting department, Virat Kohli led the charge, amassing 74, with the help of 13 fours and a six to guide India to a victory.
Indian bowlers were spot on from the start, and Anshul Kamboj was named the Player of the Match for his two-wicket spell, with the Kiwis managing just 185 in 40.2 overs.

Kohli was adjudged the Impact Player of the Match, and he added over 100 runs with Gill (37), who provided support to the legenday batter. Rohit Sharma was not among the run-scorers, and he failed to open his account. Kohli dominated the Kiwi bowlers and didn’t allow anyone to settle down.
The fans were delighted to watch their favourite star in full flow on a wicket that had something for the bowlers.
Earlier, Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to bowl to take advantage of the overcast conditions. The pacers tested the Kiwi batters, with none of them managing to post a half-century. The 39-run stand between the last pair took the score above the 180-run mark. It never proved enough as India completed the revised target of 145 in 22.4 overs despite losing a few wickets after the dismissal of Kohli.
The subcontinent team is competing in a five-match ODI series, with star pacer Jasprit Bumrah rested to keep him fresh for the Test matches.
