Who is Sunil Lodhi? The journey from village chaupalas to Bollywood
The story of 25-year-old Sunil Singh Lodhi, a resident of Agra, a small village in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh, is no less than a film story. Sunil has been visually impaired since birth and due to financial circumstances he could not complete his studies. But he never allowed his difficulty to become his identity. From the age of about 10-11 years, he started learning to play the traditional Bundeli instrument Tamura and singing bhajans while sitting among the elders. His voice started reaching people by singing bhajans in village chaupalas, religious events and local programs.
There was a time when he earned his livelihood by singing bhajans in trains. In the year 2019, his singing got recognition on social media and the video of Hanuman bhajan 'O More Sankat Ke Kataiya Hanuman' went viral. This voice took him to the film world. The bhajan 'Maine tere hi bharose Hanuman' sung by him in the film 'Hanuman Ansh' based on Neem Karori Baba entered the hearts of people. This song gave him recognition across the country.
The film's producer Anupriya Nagar came forward to help in his eye treatment. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has also assured help for the treatment. However, only after detailed examination will the doctors know what are the chances of his eyesight returning.
Sunil's story is not just a singer's success, but an example of the skill and courage that took him to his destination despite difficult circumstances.
