Wanting to become a mother: an emotional journey
The dream of becoming a mother holds a deep emotional significance for every couple, especially when they want to grow their family. But when natural conception becomes difficult, seeking medical help becomes an option. Yet, there remains a perception in society that fertility treatments are only a women's problem. Television actress Mahhi Vij has raised questions on this while sharing her experiences. She told that she and her husband Jai Bhanushali also took the help of IVF to become parents.
Mahi refuses to discuss about IVF
Mahi told in an interview that when she underwent IVF process, some people advised her not to talk about the topic publicly. He was warned that this could lead to people getting the wrong impression about him. But Mahi refused to accept this advice.
Need for IVF: Examination of both men and women is necessary
Mahi drew attention to an important point. According to him, the need for IVF does not mean that the problem lies only with the woman. She and Jay chose this option because certain circumstances made natural conception challenging for them. From a medical perspective, the causes of infertility can be female, male, or both. Many times the cause is not clear, so proper investigation and expert advice is necessary.
Mahi's attitude towards the child born through IVF
Mahi also clarified that a child born through assisted reproductive technology is also the parents' own child. Through her experience, she refuted the notions that create a family through IVF from a different perspective. For them, it was a therapeutic way to become parents, and the process did not diminish their emotional connection with their child.
Ways to deal with society's comments
Couples who resort to IVF often have to face unnecessary questions from relatives and experts. In such a situation, it is important to understand that fertility treatment is personal medical information. It is the couple's decision with whom to share it. No one should be forced to provide details of their medical reports or personal circumstances. If someone makes a derogatory comment, it is better to clarify your boundaries calmly.
