The U.S. dollar continued its decline against the Vietnamese dong on Thursday morning, hovering around the lowest in 18 months.

Vietcombank listed selling rate at VND25,890, down 0.27% from Wednesday. BIDV also cut its respective rate by 0.25% to VND25,890.

The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate at VND25,623 on Thursday, down 0.02% from the previous session.

Globally the dollar edged lower in the aftermath of an overwhelming victory by Democrats in U.S. midterm elections that cleared a major source of uncertainty and fuelled a rally in global equities, Reuters reported.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against a basket of currencies, fell 0.06% to 101.41, after a 0.36% decline in the prior session. The euro was up 0.12% at $1.1241. The yen strengthened 0.08% to 158.25 per dollar.
