Election Commission released SSR schedule, final voter list released on 21 January!

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday announced the complete timeline of the Special Summary Revision (SSR) of the voter list. The purpose of this process is to add the left out and first-time voters to the eligible youth in the voter list.

According to the Commission, the integrated draft rolls will be prepared by November 30 while the last date for publishing the final rolls has been fixed as January 21, 2027. In between, about two months time has been kept for appeals, objections and their disposal.

The Election Commission said that SSR will be conducted in those states and union territories where SIR has just been completed or the third phase of SIR is currently underway. It is clear that this will not happen simultaneously in the entire country but in a phased manner.

“The schedule of SSR in states/UTs like Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Delhi, Tripura and Telangana will be announced later,” the commission said.

However, in view of the cold weather in hilly areas like Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, SSR will be started later.

According to the information released by the Commission, rationalization or rearrangement of polling stations will have to be completed by November 20. Publication of the Integrated Draft Electoral Roll will be completed by November 30. Claims and objections can be filed from November 30 to December 12. The settlement of all claims and objections will have to be completed by 16 January 2027. The final publication of the electoral roll will take place on 21 January 2027.

About two months have been given to file claims and objections and resolve them. The Election Commission has also issued guidelines for BLOs, DROs, EROs and other polling officers in a detailed press note. The Commission said that the concerned CEOs will issue the press note on the day of final publication.

“Each CEO will issue a press note during this period, sharing photographs of the weekly list of claims and objections submitted by the ERO to political parties. The note will also inform the public and political parties about the appeal process,” the commission said.

“The CEO will inform the public about the final publication and summary of voters' details and provide guidance on the appeal process,” the commission said.

Let us inform that on September 29, the Election Commission had given instructions to run a special campaign for the nomination of left out youth and first-time voters in at least 20 states/union territories. Now with the announcement of the dates, the nomination process has formally started.
