No relief to Azam Khan from Supreme Court, High Court will hear!

The Supreme Court has not received relief on the petition filed against the arrest of Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The Supreme Court on Thursday directed Azam Khan to go to Allahabad High Court.

Azam Khan has challenged in the Supreme Court the ED's arrest immediately after his release from Rampur jail in the money laundering case related to Jauhar University. The bench of CJI Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi heard Azam Khan's petition.

The Supreme Court has asked the Allahabad High Court to hear Azam Khan's petition on November 16. The Supreme Court ordered the registry to transfer all the records of this case to the Allahabad High Court within two days.

Azam Khan's lawyer Kapil Sibal argued in the Supreme Court that 28 cases are registered against Azam Khan. There is also a case of money laundering. This is sheer harassment. An FIR was lodged in 2019 for an incident of 2006, now he is not even in power, how can anyone lodge an FIR? Azam Khan is 80 years old. He should be granted bail. Kapil Sibal said that if this continues then he will die in jail.

The Supreme Court said, “Azam is accused of forcibly taking land from farmers for the university. You (Kapil Sibal) are right in saying that the incident is of 2006 and the FIR is of 2019, but it will be argued that perhaps this happened because of Azam's influence. Sibal said that Azam was not in power at that time.

Azam Khan, arrested in the money laundering case, has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days by the special court of Ghaziabad, after which he has been sent to Dasna jail.
