Recalling the Emergency, Gadkari said that during that time the Congress Party had committed the sin of snatching away the fundamental rights of the people.
Nagpur. Union Road Transport and National Highways Minister and former BJP President Nitin Gadkari said on Thursday that the Congress, which had once imposed emergency in the country, is now trying to spread anarchy, but voters will never trust it. Addressing the BJP's 'Save Democracy-Remove Anarchy' march, he also objected to the language used by Congress leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge while discussing Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said, I want to tell Rahul Gandhi that no matter how much power you exert, how much you mislead people or lie, or how much you attack democratic institutions, the people of this country will still not vote for you… Whenever Congress wins, the people of this country ultimately vote it out of power.
Recalling the Emergency, Gadkari said that during that time the Congress Party had committed the sin of snatching away the fundamental rights of the people. He said that under the National Security Act, people were put in jail and restrictions were imposed on many democratic institutions.
Congress is trying to spread anarchy
The former BJP president said, now the same Congress party talks about protecting democracy. She is trying to spread anarchy in the country. The kind of language that Rahul Gandhi and Congress leaders are using does not suit them. Leaders like Kharge are talking about Prime Minister Modi's father. They are distraught because the public has repeatedly rejected Congress and the party has been continuously losing elections.
Congress has no respect for Parliament
Gadkari said that Congress leaders are attacking democratic institutions out of frustration. He alleged that the main opposition party was trying to tarnish the image of the Election Commission and prevent Parliament from functioning. The Union Minister said that Parliament is meant to debate and express its views, but by repeatedly disrupting its proceedings, Congress has shown that it has no respect for Parliament.
