BJP's tension increased due to UGC controversy, joined hands with Sangh to woo the upper castes

Before the 2027 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, the challenge for BJP to woo its traditional voter class is increasing. Amidst the resentment among a section of the upper caste community over the new rules of the University Grants Commission, BJP has intensified its political strategy.

With Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav cutting off the backward, Dalit and minority i.e. PDA equation, BJP is also trying to retain its traditional upper caste voters. For this, the party, in collaboration with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, is working on a strategy to increase social dialogue, student contact and outreach among different sections. The challenge before BJP is not only to remove resentment but also to maintain the balance of social equations in the 2027 elections.

There has been dissatisfaction among a section of general category students and social organizations regarding the new equality rules of the University Grants Commission. Questions are being raised regarding possible misuse of the rules. This issue has become important for BJP because voters from Brahmin, Thakur and Vaishya communities are considered an important part of its traditional support base.

The party does not want this resentment to turn into political dissatisfaction before the elections. In such a situation, the BJP organization is trying to remove people's doubts through dialogue and maintain faith in the party.

Chaupal to serve the upper castes

Social groups and dialogue between different sections are being given prominent place in BJP's strategy. The party is preparing to increase contacts with youth, students, teachers and social representatives associated with educational institutions. Various cells of the party are also being activated.

The emphasis is on increasing the reach of the organization among teachers, doctors, advocates, businessmen, youth, milk producers, street vendors and senior citizens. BJP's effort is to remove the dissatisfaction arising from the UGC controversy in time and to keep the dialogue strong at the social level before the elections.

BJP's bet against Akhilesh's PDA

Akhilesh Yadav's PDA equation has emerged as a big challenge for the BJP in the politics of Uttar Pradesh. Amidst the Samajwadi Party's strategy of uniting the backward, Dalit and minority classes, the BJP is also busy strengthening its social equations.

BJP plans to increase dialogue between different castes and social groups. The party is preparing to respond to the ethnic mobilization of the opposition with issues of nationalism, good governance and development. The most important question for BJP is how it maintains its political hold among the backward and Dalit classes while alleviating the resentment of the upper caste voters.

Examination of social equations before 2027

After the challenge faced by BJP in Uttar Pradesh in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the party is cautious about the assembly elections. The UGC controversy and PDA politics have created a need for BJP to solve social equations afresh. The party organization is trying to remove resentment before the elections and maintain dialogue between different social classes.

In the times to come, the activation of BJP's social chaupals and contact campaigns will be important in deciding how much the party is able to strengthen its traditional voter base. In the political battle of 2027, BJP faces a double challenge – to remove the resentment of the upper castes and to solve Akhilesh Yadav's PDA equation.
