For this, BJP made Hardeep Singh Puri its candidate, while Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri filed the nomination on behalf of the party, while on the other hand Congress supported an independent candidate, but the nomination of that candidate was rejected. In this way only one candidate remained in the election and the election office declared the Union Minister elected unopposed.
BJP state president Hemant Khandelwal along with all the leaders reached the election office located in the assembly complex on Thursday and obtained the certificate of election of Union Minister Puri from the election officer. There are a total of 11 Rajya Sabha seats in the state, out of which BJP has now captured nine. Whereas, Congress has two seats.
After BJP announced the name of Union Minister Puri for Rajya Sabha, Congress was on the attack and made many serious allegations against him. Not only this, he was also accused of hiding information in his nomination papers. The election office had rejected all the objections of the Congress.
