New announcement by UP government, 2 big good news for government employees

Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh government has given another big gift to government employees on Diwali. It has been decided to give 30 days adhoc bonus to eligible employees for the financial year 2025-26. This decision will provide financial relief to thousands of employees. The maximum amount of bonus has been fixed at Rs 6,908. However, employees will not receive this amount entirely in cash.

According to the government order issued by the Finance Department on 5 November 2026, regular full-time non-gazetted employees will get the benefit of this facility. Employees up to level 8 of the pay matrix will come under its purview. Bonus will also be given to aided educational and technical institutions, local bodies, district panchayats and work-charged employees under prescribed conditions. For this, it is necessary to complete at least one year of continuous service by 31 March 2026.

What will happen to the bonus amount?

The government has made a separate system for bonus payment. Employees will get 25 percent of the total amount in cash, while the remaining 75 percent will be deposited in the GPF account. For employees who do not have a GPF account, their share will be deposited in NSC or PPF.

Second relief to retiring employees

Retiring employees have also been taken into consideration in this decision. The entire bonus amount will be given in cash to employees who retire after March 31, 2026 or by April 30, 2027. That means they will not be forced to deposit 75 percent of the amount in provident fund or other savings scheme.

However, employees found guilty in departmental action or criminal case will not get the benefit of this bonus. At the same time, the payment of those against whom cases are pending can be stopped till the decision is taken.
