Kochi. The political controversy regarding the Election Commission's voter list revision process i.e. Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is intensifying. Actor Prakash Raj has appealed to people to join the demonstration to be organized in Kochi, Kerala on November 7 to protest against this process. Responding strongly to his call, BJP spokesperson KVS Haridas has demanded the state government and police not to allow Prakash Raj to enter Kerala.
Prakash Raj said- raise your voice to protect democracy
Prakash Raj shared a video message on social media platform X and appealed to students, youth, social organizations and civil society representatives to reach the protest. He said that all people should unite and raise their voice against the SIR process. The actor himself also talked about participating in the program and urged people to register their protest peacefully.
'Jantar Mantar at Kochi' program to be held in Kochi
This demonstration organized by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has been named 'Jantar-Mantar at Kochi'. The program will be held on November 7 at Rajendra Maidan from 4 pm. Many people including party founder Abhijeet Deepke, South Zone chief Vijay Mallangi and National Secretary Afreen Nawaz are likely to attend it. The organizers have raised the demand for cancellation of the SIR process and protection of voters' rights.
BJP leader made allegations of foreign funding
BJP spokesperson KVS Haridas raised questions on Prakash Raj's appeal. He alleged that some CJP leaders have allegedly received financial help from anti-India forces present in America and leaders of Pakistan. Haridas, quoting Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, said that information related to funding should come to the fore.
He questioned the Kerala government and police whether such people should be allowed to demonstrate in the state. Haridas also demanded to stop Prakash Raj from entering Kerala and take action under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) in the entire matter. These allegations have been made by the BJP leader.
Action was taken in Delhi also regarding protest against SIR
Earlier, CJP leaders had tried to protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the SIR process at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. During this time, Abhijeet Deepke, Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das were detained by the police. Later Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were arrested in a case related to Jantar Mantar. Both were released on October 21 after being in judicial custody for about a week.
Now Prakash Raj's appeal and BJP leader's reaction regarding the proposed protest in Kochi have given a new turn to the political debate. On one hand the organizers are preparing for a peaceful demonstration against the voter list revision, while on the other hand the BJP has raised serious questions on the program and the organisers.
