Amitabh Bachchan recalls being teased by female students during a visit to Delhi’s Miranda House on KBC, sharing how the experience made him understand what women face.
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan recently revisited an amusing yet eye-opening memory from his college days during an episode of the popular quiz show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ (KBC). The veteran actor recalled an incident from his first visit to Delhi University’s Miranda House, where a group of female students made playful remarks about the way he walked.
Sharing the anecdote during a special episode featuring actor Madhuri Dixit, Amitabh spoke about how the experience gave him a glimpse into what women feel when they are subjected to unwanted attention and teasing. His recollection left the audience amused, particularly when he revealed how he responded to the situation.
Amitabh Bachchan recalls Miranda House incident
Recounting his visit to the women’s college, Amitabh said he was taken back when the students seated on the hostel balcony began passing comments as he entered the premises.
“Main aapko batana chahta hoon is waqt thodi si sensitive baat hai.. Jis din hum pehli dafa Miranda House mein ghuse to balcony pe baithi jitne hostel ki ladkiyan thi bole aay hay kya chaal hai..”
(I want to tell you something; this is a little sensitive at the moment. The day we entered Miranda House for the first time, all the girls sitting on the hostel balcony said, ‘Hey, look at the way he walks)
The actor explained that the incident made him understand, to some extent, the discomfort women experience when they become targets of such remarks. He reflected on how being at the receiving end of the behavior changed his perspective.
“Aur tab hum ko pata chala ki ek mahila ke dil mein kya hota hai jab is tarah se uski ched-chaad hoti hai…”
(And that was when I understood what goes on in a woman’s heart when she is subjected to this kind of teasing)
‘Bhag gaye aur kya’: Amitabh’s hilarious response
Continuing his account, Amitabh emphasized that people often fail to understand the impact of such behavior until they experience it themselves. He recalled being unsure how to react when the students started teasing him.
“Kyunki jab tak aapke upar nahi beetegi, aapko pata nahi chalega jo Miranda House mein pehle din ghusa aur jab suna ye to hum ko pata nahi chala ki yaar kya kare..”
(Because until something happens to you, you won’t understand how it feels. When I entered Miranda House for the first time and heard this, I just couldn’t figure out what to do)
Madhuri, intrigued by his account, asked the actor what he did after hearing the comments. Staying true to his trademark sense of humor, Amitabh delivered a brief but amusing response.
“To kya kiya aapne?..,” Madhuri asked.
“Bhag gaye aur kya..” Amitabh replied, suggesting that he chose to flee rather than confront the situation.
