Tezzbuzz Desk- The festival of Diwali is falling on Sunday this year. In such a situation, if you have any important work related to the bank, then it is important to know about the bank holidays in advance. Due to Diwali and many festivals related to it in November, banks are going to remain closed for several days in different states. However, bank holidays are not the same across the country. According to the holiday calendar of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), holidays are decided based on local festivals in different states. This year, bank branches will remain closed in many states on November 9, November 10 and November 11. Therefore, if you have to deposit cash, check clearance, passbook update or any other important work related to the bank branch, it would be better to complete it before the holiday.
Banks will remain closed in many states on November 9 on the occasion of Diwali, Lakshmi Puja, Govardhan Puja and Vishwakarma Day. There will be a holiday for bank branches in Tripura, Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh, Sikkim, Manipur, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh on this day. Customers of these states should complete the important banking related work in advance. Banks are going to remain closed in many states on November 10 also. On this day, there will be a holiday for bank branches in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttarakhand and Sikkim due to festivals like Govardhan Puja, Lakshmi Puja, Bali Pratipada and Vikrami Samvat New Year. Especially in big trading states like Gujarat and Maharashtra, this holiday after Diwali is important for traders and customers.
After this, banks will remain closed in some states on November 11 due to events related to Bhai Dooj, Ningol Chakkauba, Chitragupta Puja and Lakshmi Puja. On this day, there will be a holiday for bank branches in Sikkim, Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Himachal Pradesh. In such a situation, banking operations may be affected in the second week of November. However, closure of bank branches does not mean that all banking services to customers will stop. Digital banking and other online facilities will be available normally.
Customers can withdraw cash from ATM during bank branch closure. Apart from this, tasks like money transfer, bill payment and online shopping can be done through UPI, Net Banking and Mobile Banking App. The digital services of the bank are generally available 24 hours. Apart from this, banks have regular holidays on the second and fourth Saturday of every month. Therefore, before planning any banking work, definitely check the list of holidays of your state and bank. Overall, bank holidays during Diwali will vary according to the state. Therefore, do not assume that banks across the country will remain closed for 4 or 5 consecutive days. It would be best to check the information on which day the bank is closed in your state from the RBI holiday calendar or the official notification of the concerned bank.
