Digital Desk, Read: SP leader Azam Khan's wife and former Rajya Sabha MP Tanzin Fatima has expressed serious displeasure over the condition of Azam Khan after meeting him in Ghaziabad's Dasna jail. Talking to the media, Tanzin Fatima said that the person who has been a 10-time MLA, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MP, has been kept in jail amidst filth. He said that Azam Khan's health is not good and he has already suffered a stroke, all the medical reports of which have been submitted in the court, yet he is not being provided basic facilities in the jail.
Conversation with jail superintendent for an hour
Tanzin Fatima reached Dasna jail at around 12 noon with her elder son Adeeb Azam and adopted daughter Ekta Kaushik. Here he talked to Senior Jail Superintendent Sitaram Sharma for about an hour, after which he was made to meet Azam Khan. After the meeting he told that the conditions inside the jail are not good, there is neither a bed nor a bed there. He said that Azam Khan has been kept in such a way that he will run away somewhere, while the criminals are being allowed to roam freely. The first objective of the family is to get him out of jail through legal process and for this a date has been fixed in the High Court.
Action taken in money laundering case in Jahar University construction
On October 29, Allahabad High Court had suspended the 10-year sentence of Azam Khan and his son Abdullah Azam in the fake PAN card case and granted bail, after which both of them were released from Rampur jail on October 31. However, as soon as he came out of jail, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) took Azam Khan into custody in a case of money laundering and alleged misuse of government funds in the construction of Jauhar University. On November 1, the ED produced him in the special PMLA court, from where the court sent him to Dasna jail for 14 days judicial custody.
