New Delhi. The Jharkhand High Court has set aside the state government's decision to cancel the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (JSSC-CGL) examination and the appointments made through it and withdraw the recruitment advertisement. This decision of the High Court has brought great relief to the selected candidates. Justice Deepak Roshan, while giving the verdict, said that the employees who have been appointed will continue to work and the investigation into the matter will continue. If during the investigation, evidence is found against someone that he was selected unfairly, then action will be taken only against him.

Earlier, the court had reserved the decision last month after the completion of the hearing of this case. Actually, under JSSC-CGL Exam Advertisement No. 10/2023, Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission had conducted the examination for appointments in various departments. About 2300 candidates were selected through this. Later, controversy started over issues like exam rigging and question paper leak. Students also started protesting regarding this. After this the state government handed over the investigation to CID.

Citing the CID report, the government had issued an order in August to cancel the CGL examination and appointments of successful candidates. The candidates selected in the examination had filed petitions in the High Court challenging this order of the government. While presenting their side on behalf of the petitioners, it was argued in the High Court that it is not appropriate to cancel the entire recruitment process as it will affect even those people who have passed the examination properly. The counsel for the petitioners argued that punishment for the actions of a few should not be given to all the candidates. During the investigation of this matter, notices have been issued to approximately 465 suspicious candidates.
