Priyanka Chopra Announces ‘Ventilator 2’, Marks 10 Years Of Her First Marathi Production

Mumbai: Actor-producer Priyanka Chopra has announced a sequel to her Marathi production ‘Ventilator’, marking 10 years since the original film’s release.

Priyanka took to Instagram to share the announcement, reflecting on the vision behind her production house, Purple Pebble Pictures, and its commitment to supporting meaningful stories.

She recalled that her aim was to back content-driven films with something significant to say, adding that ‘Ventilator’ was one of the projects that perfectly aligned with that vision.

Looking back on the film’s journey, she wrote, “10 years ago, with @purplepebblepictures, I decided I want to tell stories that mean something. Ventilator was one of those very important stories to us at the company. A decade later, we’re coming back to it, with so much more…”

Rajesh Mapuskar, who directed the original 2016 film, will return to helm the sequel.

Priyanka Chopra, Dr Madhu Chopra and Mapuskar will jointly produce ‘Ventilator 2’ under the banners of Purple Pebble Pictures and Magij Pictures.

The sequel is slated to hit theatres in 2027. However, the makers are yet to reveal details about its cast, storyline or shooting schedule.

Set against the backdrop of Ganesh Chaturthi, ‘Ventilator’ revolved around the Kamerkar family, who gathered at a hospital after their elderly relative, Gajanan, was put on ventilator support.

His condition brought the family together while also bringing unresolved conflicts, strained relationships and long-standing disagreements to the surface.

Blending humour with family drama, the film featured Ashutosh Gowariker, Jitendra Joshi, Sulabha Arya, Viju Khote, Satish Alekar and Achyut Potdar, with Priyanka Chopra Jonas making a special appearance.

The film went on to win three National Film Awards, including Best Director for Mapuskar, along with honours for Best Editing and Best Sound Mixing.

It also marked an important milestone in Priyanka’s journey as a producer and emerged as one of the notable early projects under her Purple Pebble Pictures banner.

Meanwhile, Priyanka continues to balance projects across Indian and international cinema.

She will next be seen in S.S. Rajamouli’s ‘Varanasi’, alongside Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
