Explosions again in the southern areas of Iran, sounds echoed from Qeshm to Bandar Abbas; Will war flare up again?

Tehran. Amid the ongoing conflict between America and Iran, reports of explosions in Southern Iran have once again increased tension in West Asia. On the evening of Saturday, November 7, two loud explosions were heard one after the other on Qeshm (Keshm) island. Apart from this, there are reports of explosion like sounds being heard in Jask, Bandar Abbas and Sirik also. All these areas are located around the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. In such a situation, the latest developments have increased the possibility of intensification of the conflict between the two countries.

According to Iran's government news agency IRNA, two explosions occurred in the eastern part of Qeshm Island. Initially some reports suggested a missile attack on the island. However, an Iranian source rejected the claim, saying the blasts could be related to ongoing military activities and management of maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. At present, the actual cause of the blasts and the damage caused by them have not been officially confirmed.

Why is southern Iran so important?

In fact, the southern region of Iran is the main center of its military and economic strength. Many important ports, oil export routes and military establishments are present here. The geographical location of Qeshm Island and Bandar Abbas is very close to the Strait of Hormuz. A large part of the world's maritime oil trade passes through this route.

The region has been the center of continuous conflict since US and Israeli military action began on 28 February 2026. Despite the ceasefire and diplomatic efforts between America and Iran, the tension has not reduced. The conflict between the two sides continues over control of sea routes and Iran's military resources.

America's blockade, Iran's response

At present, America has imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports. In response, Iran is also trying to maintain its control over the movement of ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, the US Army has also carried out limited military attacks on Qeshm Island.

US President Donald Trump also recently confirmed a limited attack on Qeshm Island. The American side called it a defensive action, while different claims have come from the Iranian side.

  • Concern increased due to fire in two oil tankers

Meanwhile, Iran's Revolutionary Guards have claimed that two oil tankers trying to pass through the restricted route in the Strait of Hormuz were hit by landmines, due to which they caught fire. However, there has been no independent confirmation regarding the full circumstances of this incident and the damage caused.

The US has also recently reported taking action against a commercial ship trying to violate its naval blockade. This has further increased the tension regarding maritime traffic and military activities in the area.

Will the US-Iran conflict intensify again?

After the latest blasts, the biggest question is whether the conflict between America and Iran will become widespread again. It is currently unclear whether the explosions heard in Qeshm, Jask and other areas were the result of a direct US or Israeli attack or part of Iran's military activities.

However, attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz, the US naval blockade and military activities by both countries are making the situation in the region extremely sensitive. Official reactions and military activities by both sides in the coming days will determine whether tensions ease or West Asia once again moves towards major conflict.
