A big gift, the scope of free treatment increased up to Rs 5 lakh, now these people will also be eligible…
New Delhi :- The government has made major changes under Ayushman Bharat- Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY). The state government has expanded this scheme and added some more people under it, which includes people taking benefits from widow and disabled assistance schemes. This step is expected to increase the number of families eligible for cashless health services in Delhi.
Under this scheme, eligible people will be given the benefit of hospital insurance up to Rs 5 lakh every year. This is a big support given by the government, under which the health related expenses of the weaker section of the people are reduced.
Now about 3.97 lakh widows and 1.31 lakh disabled persons and their families of Delhi have been specially included in this scheme. As of now, about 5.5 lakh families in Delhi are already covered under Ayushman Bharat scheme and after the new changes, this number will increase even more.
Their family members will also be able to avail benefits
During the cabinet meeting, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta confirmed the decision and said that they as well as their families will also be eligible to avail benefits under the scheme. This statement reflects that an inclusive approach is being adopted to provide health protection under PMJAY to widows and dependents of persons with disabilities.
What is Ayushman Bharat Scheme?
The Government of India launched the Ayushman Bharat scheme on 23 September 2018. This is the world’s largest public health service scheme. The initiative aims to provide cashless and paperless access to crores of Indian families, especially those with limited financial resources, to listed hospitals across the country.
What is covered during treatment?
Under the PMJAY scheme, every eligible family gets a cashless cover of up to Rs 5,00,000 every year. The services covered in this scheme include medical check-up, counselling, pre and post hospitalization care, medicines, investigations, medical procedures, accommodation, food and even complications that may arise during treatment. This comprehensive coverage is intended to provide financial security and access to healthcare to those who may otherwise face barriers due to cost.
