The accident happened near Sawai village of Shivli police station area of ​​Kanpur Dehat district. All are residents of Awas-Vikas Colony of Kalyanpur police station area of ​​Kanpur district. The entire family had gone from Auraiya district to attend the Terharvi program of their relative. An accident occurred while returning from there late on Friday night. 60-year-old Rajkishore Agnihotri, resident of Housing Development Colony, Kalyanpur police station area of ​​Kanpur district, along with his wife 55-year-old Snehlata Agnihotri, 30-year-old daughter Himanshi Agnihotri and two-year-old grandson Shiv Agnihotri, had gone to Auraiya district to attend a thirteenth program along with other family members. He was returning to his home in a private van late on Friday night. There were 11 people in the car including driver Rajkumar. During this time, the car went out of control and fell into a deep pond near Sawai village of Shivli police station area. Hearing the screams, the local people reached the spot and informed the police.

As soon as the information was received, forces from several police stations including divers reached the spot. With the help of police crane, the car was taken out of the pond and the divers pulled out the people drowned in the pond after a lot of effort. In a hurry, the police, with the help of the villagers, sent everyone to the community center of Shivli, where the doctors declared Rajkishore, Snehlata, Himanshi and Shiv dead. When the condition of others became serious, the doctors referred them to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital in Kanpur district after first aid. Shivli police station in-charge Amarendra Kumar Singh said that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem and the cause of the accident is being investigated. He said that the driver Rajkumar could not be traced. Divers have been deployed to search for him.
