A car that runs for just ₹25 per litre! Gadkari’s revelation creates stir among car buyers

On a cold Delhi morning, when Union Minister Nitin Gadkari set out in his special car running on 100% bio-ethanol, all eyes were fixed on his car. This was not his ordinary daily journey, but it was presenting a bigger picture of India’s fuel future. The visit revealed that India is now rapidly moving towards the use of eco-friendly and completely organic fuels like bio-ethanol in place of conventional fuels like petrol.

Gadkari’s flex-fuel car showed the way

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari was seen traveling in a flex-fuel car that runs entirely on ethanol on Wednesday. This car was a Toyota Innova. He emphasized that vehicles running on fuels like ethanol will free India from pollution, increase farmers’ income, and reduce our dependence on foreign fossil fuels (petrol/diesel). Gadkari clearly said that if the number of vehicles running on ethanol increases, then we can gradually stop importing fossil fuels like petrol.

The car will run for just ₹25, forget petrol!

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari while traveling in Delhi talked about his flex-fuel vehicle which runs on 100% ethanol. He said it is much cheaper than petrol as the price of ethanol is around ₹65 per litre, while petrol is being sold at ₹120 per litre. Gadkari also said that this car also generates up to 60% of the electricity while running, thereby reducing the actual cost of running it to about ₹25 per litre. He believes that only when the fuel becomes so economical, more people will start adopting ethanol.

Benefit of farmers, end of pollution

Ethanol produced by farmers from rice, maize, sugarcane juice, straw and other agricultural products is an environment-friendly (green fuel) fuel which does not cause pollution. Due to its widespread use, farmers will get huge economic benefits. Also, it will reduce pollution in the country, reduce our dependence on import of petroleum products and also increase employment opportunities.

Hyundai’s Creta Flex Fuel created a stir

Hyundai Motor India had shown the prototype of Creta Flex Fuel at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. This car will run on ethanol. According to the company, vehicles running on ethanol greatly reduce carbon pollution in the environment and also increase the power and torque of the vehicle. The good thing is that due to government assistance, the cost of purchasing and running these vehicles can also reduce.

The pace of ethanol increases across the country

At present, around 550 ethanol plants are operating in the country. Blending of 20% ethanol in petrol has already started across India, which is a big step. Additionally, many leading two-wheeler companies have introduced models that are completely ready to run on 100% ethanol. This information was given by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, which shows the progress being made towards promoting the use of alternative fuels in the country.

Ethanol tractors are coming, auto companies are ready

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced that ethanol-CNG tractors will be launched soon. He also said that in future all major automobile companies will start mass production of flex engine vehicles. In support of this, Indian Oil is already running around 400 ethanol pumps across the country, creating the infrastructure for this new initiative.
