Firing took place in a dispute between car riders; Retired Brigadier who was out for a walk got injured and died during treatment.
Dispute over giving way, accused in car absconded from the spot
Dehradun. A retired Army Brigadier was killed in firing during a dispute between two car riders over alleged giving way in Dehradun’s Rajpur area on Monday morning. According to the police, the incident took place in the morning at Johari village on Mussoorie Road when there was a dispute over giving way between the occupants of a Delhi numbered Fortuner car and a Scorpio N coming behind it.
Police said that the people in the Scorpio chased the Fortuner car and fired bullets at its tyres, which hit retired Army Brigadier Mukesh Joshi (74), who was out for a morning walk. Joshi was immediately taken to the hospital, where he died.
According to the police, due to the bullet hitting the tyre, the Fortuner car went out of control and collided with a tree on the roadside near the Government Primary School in Johri. After this, the people traveling in the Scorpio car beat up the people traveling in the Fortuner and damaged the vehicle. In this incident, two people traveling in the Fortuner car were injured, who were taken to the hospital by their colleagues.
After the incident, all the accused traveling in the Scorpio fled from the spot. As soon as the information was received, Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police Pramendra Singh Dobal and other officers took stock of the spot and went to the hospital to collect information from the victims.
Dehradun Superintendent of Police (City) Pramod Kumar said that a search operation is being carried out by blocking the entire district to search for the accused. The footage of CCTV cameras installed at the incident site and surrounding roads is being scrutinized. He told that the accused will soon be in the custody of the police.
