I remember, I was supposed to get a big opportunity, but I missed it. One of my big films flopped at the box office and that stopped me from getting work. People who used to queue up to give me work suddenly started thinking of me as cursed and unlucky. So, I’ve been through it all.”

The actress further explained, “I always wanted to do something different. And it happened after ‘Sanju’. I remember, when Rajkumar Hirani was casting for the film, I called him. I had worked with him earlier in ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’. So I told him, ‘Please, give me work. I am unemployed and looking for new work. Nobody is giving me work. You are doing this film, and I promise I will screen you. Will take the test. Wherever you want, but please give me work.’ He said, ‘I will talk to Ranbir and the rest of the team, then tell you. I think you are perfect for the role.’ Then I got the role of Sanjay Dutt’s wife Manyata. And she was a lifesaver for me.”
