A glimpse of ‘Jo Rab Hai Wohi Ram’ seen in Deva Sharif: Hindu-Muslim daughters played Holi of flowers in the shadow of the tomb.

Barabanki, 5 March. On Wednesday, such colors of communal harmony were showered on the holy shrine of Sufi saint Haji Waris Ali Shah at Dewa in Barabanki district that it became an example for the whole world. Thousands of pilgrims from Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and Christian communities from every corner of the country reached Dewa Sharif to follow this great tradition of about 125 years old. When Abir-Gulal was blown away amidst the cheers of ‘Waris Piya’ in the Mazar complex, the religious walls collapsed and only the color of humanity was visible all around.

According to the information, the scene of this Holi of Deva was very special on Wednesday. A large number of girls and women who reached the Dargah premises celebrated the victory by applying Abeer-Gulaal to each other and showering rose petals. Amidst the beats of drums and spiritual qawwalis, girls were seen dancing and holding each other’s hands. This scene was bringing alive the message that Haji Waris Ali Shah had given—’Jo Rab hai wahi Ram’. Every person present at the Dargah, irrespective of religion, was seen dressed in the same color and danced to the tune of Qawwali, giving the message of brotherhood.

It is noteworthy that this Holi of Deva Sharif has its own identity at the international level. The specialty here is that this festival is not just a game of colours, but a medium to connect hearts. Local citizens told that in this tradition that has been going on for centuries, Hindu-Muslim brothers come together and spread gulal. Devotees from different states of the country also participated enthusiastically in today’s event. The devotees who came to present themselves at the shrine said that the Holi here is the most beautiful and harmonious Holi in the world, where there is no place for hatred.
