Big initiative of Delhi government; 50 tasks including birth certificate now available on WhatsApp, trial of ‘WhatsApp Governance Project’ possible from next month
The government is going to launch a new digital initiative in Bharatiya Janata Party ruled Delhi. After completion of one year’s tenure, the government can start the trial of ‘WhatsApp Governance Project’ from next month. Officials gave this information on Sunday. Under this project, many government services will be made available directly through Whatsapp. This will include services like applications for birth certificate, caste certificate and other important documents. The aim of the government is that citizens do not have to visit government offices for small tasks and services should be available on mobile only.
Apply through Whatsapp only, work will be done there
Delhi Government’s much awaited ‘WhatsApp Governance Project’ has now reached the final stage and its trial can start from next month. A senior official said that some contractors have been empaneled through the bidding process for the operation of the project. Under this initiative, citizens will be able to lodge requests for various government services with the help of AI chatbots available on WhatsApp. Along with submitting their service requests, people will also be able to receive notifications related to the status of the application. According to the official, documents like certificates will also be made available on this platform, so that citizens will not have to visit different government offices. This system will be user-friendly and will be capable of providing 24×7 services.
50 work facilities of different departments
According to officials, under this initiative people will be able to get many facilities without going to government offices. Services will be provided within the stipulated time frame and applicants will also get updates from time to time. For this project, about 50 such works of different departments have been identified, for which applications can be made directly through WhatsApp. However, the government has not yet released a detailed list of all these services.
Officials said that the IT department of Delhi government is working on the project. A special dashboard will also be developed to implement the WhatsApp based service model, through which the entire system can be monitored and the progress of the services can be monitored.
