New Delhi : An era has come to an end in the world of Indian television. Anand Ramanand Sagar Chopra, elder son of Ramanand Sagar, the great director of historical religious serial like ‘Ramayana’, passed away this morning. The Sagar family confirmed this sad news on Instagram. Anand took up his father’s legacy and made an important contribution in conveying the mythological stories to the new generation. His last rites took place in the evening at Pawan Hans crematorium in Mumbai.

Let us tell you that the Sagar family posted on social media that Anand ji has passed away peacefully. He described him as a person full of warmth, dignity and values. The family wrote that his kindness and gentle nature touched the hearts of many people. The funeral took place on 13 February 2026 at 4:30 pm at Pawan Hans cremation ground. Prayers were offered for the peace of his soul.

After the departure of Ramanand Sagar in 2005, Anand took over the responsibility of Sagar Arts. He worked to re-telecast ‘Ramayana’ and other classic serials in a new form.
