State government prepared new industrial policy

In the recent past, many industries had started moving out of Punjab and investing in other states. A major reason for this was that industries in other states were getting more facilities and attractive incentives. Now, keeping these challenges in mind, the state government has prepared a new industrial policy, the aim of which is to win back the trust of investors.

The most important feature of the new policy is that industrialists have been given the facility to choose incentives according to their needs. This means that now investors will be able to decide which government facilities will be most beneficial for their project. This will make it easier for industries to make plans according to their business model and the investment environment will also improve.

The government has also made a provision for direct subsidy to promote capital investment. If an industry plans to set up a big plant in the state, the government can help in initial capital investment. This will reduce the risk of industrialists and will encourage big investors to set up industries in Punjab.

Another special thing about the new industrial policy is that not only the new industries but also the already working industries will benefit from it. If any old industry wants to modernize its machines, increase production capacity or start a new production unit, then it will also be encouraged by the government. This decision can directly benefit thousands of small and medium industries in major industrial cities of Punjab like Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Mandi Gobindgarh and Batala. Special focus on social inclusion

The government has also paid special attention to social inclusion in this policy. If women, people belonging to Scheduled Caste category or persons with disabilities are employed in industries, then such industries will be given additional incentives. Its objective is to ensure that along with industrial development, all sections of the society also get equal opportunities.

Many important decisions have also been taken keeping small and medium industries in mind. The minimum investment limit for subsidies related to employment generation has been reduced, which will make it easier for small industries to get government assistance. This will also increase the possibility of starting new small industries in the state.

Special provisions have also been made to promote the development of border districts. Additional incentives will be given to those setting up industries in areas like Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Firozpur and Fazilka. The government hopes that this will increase economic activities in these areas and create employment opportunities for the local people.

An important aspect of this policy is its long duration. Where in many states industrial incentives are given for a limited time. At the same time, the Punjab government has decided to keep it in force for 15 years. This can help in attracting large and long-term investments.

The government says that through this new policy, work is being done to include Punjab again among the major industrial states of the country. If investment continuously increases and industries expand, then new employment opportunities will be created for the youth of the state and the economy of Punjab will also get a new impetus.
