A strategic meeting will be held today against the removal of Baba Saheb’s ashes and symbols.

Lucknow. An important strategic meeting of various committees and social organizations of Bahujan and Buddhist communities will be organized on Sunday, June 21, in protest against the proposal to transfer Baba Saheb’s sacred ashes, Buddha statue, Bodhi tree and Ashoka Pillar and other faith symbols located at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Mahasabha Complex, 10 Vidhan Sabha Marg, in the capital Lucknow.

In the appeal issued by Buddhist-Ambedkar committees and social organizations (SC, ST, OBC and minority communities), it has been said that on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar on 14 April 2026, during the program organized at Dr. Ambedkar Mahasabha Bhawan, 10 Vidhan Sabha Marg, a Legislative Council Member (MLC) will destroy Baba Saheb’s sacred ashes, Buddha statue, Bodhi tree, Ashoka pillar etc. A statement was given regarding shifting to Ambedkar Trust building in Aishbagh in 2026.

It has been said in the appeal that this proposal is a matter related to the faith of crores of Buddhists and Ambedkar followers living in the country and abroad and public sentiments have been hurt by it. To discuss this issue and decide the future strategy, a meeting of officials of all Buddhist-Ambedkar committees, social organizations and intellectuals has been called on Sunday at 4 pm at Anand Buddha Vihar, Aurangabad Khalsa, Bijnor Road (near Railway Overbridge), Lucknow.

An appeal has been made to maximum number of representatives of the society to participate in the meeting. In this regard, K.K. Gautam, Baudhacharya Nek Ram Baudh, Ram Kumar Gautam, Neelima Kumari, Ram Lagan Singh Yadav, G.P. Bharti, Baudhacharya Veer Bahadur Bauddha, Kashi Prasad, Dr. Devendra Pratap Yadav, Pradeep and B.P.S. Kushwaha, Ravindra Kumar, Rajesh Swaroop and other social workers have jointly urged people to be present.
