Tragic bus accident in Almora, Uttarakhand, six people died
On the morning of December 30, 2025, a passenger bus fell into a deep gorge near Shilapani on Bhikiyasain-Vinayak-Jalali motor road in Almora district of Uttarakhand, resulting in the death of at least **six people** and injuries to several others. The bus was carrying about 17-18 passengers and was going from Dwarahat (or Bhikiyasain area) to Ramnagar when it lost control and fell into a ditch shortly after leaving around 6 am.
Police, district administration and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams immediately started rescue operations. The injured were taken to the government hospital in Bhikiyasain, while the seriously injured were referred to bigger medical centers for better treatment. The area was remote, being about 100 km from the district headquarters, which posed challenges to rescue operations, but operations continued amid fears of stranded passengers. Officials confirmed that the bus driver and conductor were safe and in stable condition.
