The Environment Panch Kosi Yatra, organized every year by the workers of Narmada Samagra, Narmadapuram division, was carried out with great pomp this time too. This yatra is organized every year by Narmada Samagra to spread public awareness in the society. After Devuthani Ekadashi, Narmada devotees perform Narmada Parikrama, in which Panch Kosi Yatra is also a major part. Through this yatra, Narmada devotees fulfill their religious duties and also spread awareness towards the environment.
Travel Features
This year’s Panch Kosi Yatra was organized till Bandrabhan (Tawa Sangam) via village Sakatpur, Gora, Chandla. Along the yatra route, dialogue is held with the local people and the importance of environmental protection is explained to them. Information about mythological religious places is also collected during the journey. Along with this, topics like local medicines, World Heritage Trees, soil erosion, natural farming, and harm caused by chemical farming are also discussed. At every stop of the Yatra, Chaupal and dialogues are held with schools, tourists and religious people visiting the ghat.
Purpose and message of the visit
The main objective of this yatra is to protect the environment while highlighting the religious importance of Narmada. Passengers are also made aware about the harm caused by single-use plastic and measures to save rivers. Apart from this, the benefits of plantation and benefits of natural farming are also explained. Students, environmentalists, Narmada devotees, social workers and matriarchs are encouraged to participate in the yatra.
Involvement of social workers
This time social workers from Bhopal also participated in the yatra, including Eng. Satish Varathe, Eng. Dupendra Jharbade, businessman Nitesh Devde, Shyam Sundar Bavariya of Narmada Samagra Ghat Toli and divisional coordinator of Narmadapuram Naveen Bodkhe were included. All of them participated in the Yatra and contributed in making it successful.
