On September 18, 2022, receptionist Ankita Bhandari was murdered at Vanantra Resort and her body was thrown into the Chilla Shakti Canal. The body was recovered from the Chilla canal a week after the incident. After the SIT investigation, a charge sheet of about 500 pages was filed in the court against the owner of Vanantra Resort and two other employees. The prosecution had produced 97 witnesses in this case. Out of which the prosecution examined 47 witnesses including the investigator. Charges were framed against the main accused Pulkit Arya under IPC sections 302 (murder), 201 (concealment of evidence), 354 (A) (teasing and outraging modesty) and Immoral Prostitution Act. Second accused Saurabh Bhaskar and third accused Ankit Gupta were tried on charges under IPC sections 302 (murder), 201 (concealment of evidence) and Immoral Prostitution Act. After this he was sentenced to life imprisonment. At the same time, on the day of the incident, Ankita Bhandari had informed her friend Pushpdeep about the arrival of VIP in the resort. He told Pushpdeep that Pulkit Arya was pressurizing him to provide extra service to a big VIP. But the secret of who was the VIP remains intact even today.
