Aadhaar Card new rule 2025: Be it opening a bank account, taking money from a government scheme or buying a new SIM card… the one thing without which we cannot move is the Aadhaar card. It is no longer just a card, but has become the ‘supercard’ of our lives.

In such a situation, the government has made major changes in some rules related to Aadhaar from the new year 2025, which is very important for you to know. If you do not pay attention to these rules, you may suffer a huge loss.

Why did the government change these rules?

In the last few years, cases of fraud and cheating related to Aadhaar card had increased a lot. Someone else was taking the SIM on someone’s basis, while someone else was taking advantage in someone’s name. To prevent this fraud and to ‘lock’ your identity even further, the government has tightened these rules.

New rule number 1: Biometric update is now a compulsion, not a choice!

This is the biggest and most important change.

• What is the rule: If you have not updated your biometrics (i.e. fingerprints and iris) in the last 10 years, it has now been made mandatory to get it done.
• Why is it important: Over time our fingerprints wear out and change, due to which online work or verification sometimes gets stuck.
• What will happen if it is not done: Your banking and government services may be temporarily stopped.

So, today remember when you last got your biometric updated and if it has been 10 years, visit the nearest Aadhaar center immediately.

New rule number 2: Now your ‘face’ will become your password!

You must have heard about OTP fraud. Now the government has adopted a new and stronger method to stop this – face authentication.

• What is the rule: Now while opening a bank account, getting a SIM or government schemes, not only OTP but also your face will be scanned.
• What is the benefit: With this, no other person will be able to steal your identity and do any work, because your face will appear to be yours.

New rule number 3: Pay special attention to the child’s base!

If you have children at home, then this rule is for you.

• What is the rule: It has become more important now than ever to update the biometrics of children at the age of 5 years and 15 years.
• Why it’s important: Children’s fingerprints and faces change rapidly. If this is not updated, then there may be huge problems in school admission, scholarship or other schemes in future.

New rule number 4: Now no one will be able to see your data without your permission

We did not even know where our information was going in the name of KYC. But this will not happen now.

• What is the rule: Now no company or institution will be able to use your Aadhaar data without your consent. Each time you will be asked why your information is being collected.
