‘Aadhaar Good Governance Portal’ launched by Central Government Gujarati
New Delhi: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) today launched the Aadhaar Good Governance Portal to streamline the approval process for Aadhaar authentication requests. This is in line with the effort to make Aadhaar more people friendly, enable ease of living and better accessibility of services to the people.
Aadhaar good governance portal was launched by MeitY Secretary S. Krishna did it. On this occasion, UIDAI CEO Bhuvanesh Kumar, NIC Director General Inderpal Singh Sethi, UIDAI DDG Manish Bhardwaj, UIDAI DDG Amod Kumar and other senior officials of MEIT, UIDAI and NIC were present.
- Increasing ease of living and access to services
online platform (http://swik.meity.gov.in) Good Governance (समाज कल्यान, नवनिता, ज्ञान) Amendment Rules, 2025 have come into effect following Aadhaar authentication. Which was notified at the end of January 2025 under the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016. This amendment has been made to improve transparency and inclusivity in the decision making process.
Aadhaar is considered the most trusted digital ID in the world. In the last decade, more than a billion Indians have expressed their trust in Aadhaar by using it more than 100 times. The expansion of the scope of Aadhaar validation as shown in this amendment will increase the ease of life and facilitate hassle-free access to new services of their choice.
MeITY Secretary Krishna said that, with the launch of this platform and continuous improvement in other processes and systems around it, we hope to accelerate the process of adding more use cases in the area of good governance and ease of living.
UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar emphasized how Aadhaar facilitates the growth of India’s digital economy. He said that Aadhaar is capable of good governance and the focus of UIDAI is resident centricity. Aadhaar Good Governance Portal has been developed to ease the submission and approval of proposals by companies as per the prescribed rules.
- Seamless standardization for services of public interest
The amendment enables both government and non-government organizations to avail of the Aadhaar authentication service for providing various services in the public interest for specific purposes such as enabling innovation, disseminating knowledge, promoting ease of living for residents and promoting better accessibility of services to them. This will help both service providers and service seekers to conduct trustful transactions.
The new reform will enable Aadhaar number holders to avail hassle-free services from various sectors including hospitality, healthcare, credit rating bureaus, e-commerce players, educational institutions and aggregator service providers. Service providers will also be helped in various matters including staff attendance, customer onboarding, e-KYC verification, exam registration etc.
- Portal to provide step-by-step guidance for authentication requests
This portal will serve as a resourceful guide, and provide detailed SOP to organizations seeking certification on how to apply for Aadhaar authentication and how to stay on board. As part of its commitment to make Aadhaar user friendly and enable ease of living and better access to services for citizens, the Ministry had proposed rules to enable Aadhaar validation by companies other than Government Ministries and Departments. The proposed reforms were posted on the ministry’s website and comments were invited from stakeholders and the general public during April and May 2023.
