The government is now completely stopping the practice of asking for photocopies of Aadhaar cards at places like hotels, event organizers, salons and office entrances. UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar said that this new rule has been approved and will be notified soon. Under the new system, hotels or event organizers will register their identity and get a technology interface that will allow them to verify their identity without any documents, just a QR scan or the new Aadhaar app. This change will make the entire verification process faster, private and completely paperless.

The age of photocopies is over

The new Aadhaar app will perform verification without server downtime

UIDAI is testing a new app that will do app-to-app identification. This eliminates the need to connect to a central Aadhaar server every time. Hotel check-in or event entry was often delayed due to server downtime. This problem will be solved now. Recognition will be instant at the point where the QR is scanned. This app can also be used at airports, liquor stores, or other places that require age or identity verification.

Data privacy will be boosted

The government is focused on ensuring that no citizen’s Aadhaar information is copied anywhere. QR scan shows only basic details like name and photo, not full information. This will eliminate the risk of identity and data leakage.

The entire system will be upgraded as per the DPDP Act

This new app is being developed as per Digital Personal Data Protection Act. The Act will be fully implemented in the next 18 months, so UIDAI is already updating the entire Aadhaar system. The app will also have an address update option and those who don’t have a mobile phone can also be added to the family’s single app.
