AAI seeks fuel stock information from international airport operators amid Middle East crisis

NEW DELHI.New Delhi: The state-run Airports Authority of India (AAI) has asked all international airport operators in the country to provide information about the existing fuel stock and estimated requirements for the next seven days amid the growing crisis in the Middle East. Sources gave this information on Tuesday.

This information comes amid the increasing conflict between the US, Israel and Iran in the Middle East, which threatens to impact oil supplies around the world.

A source said the information has been sought as a “precautionary measure” to clearly understand the fuel supply situation at the international airport.

Sources told PTI that following directions from the Civil Aviation Ministry, AAI has sought information from all international airport operators about the current fuel supply situation.

Sources said operators have also been asked to provide information about average daily fuel consumption, estimated fuel requirement for the next seven days and the date of next scheduled fuel filling.

There are 33 international airports in India, which include Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai. Talking about international flight operations, according to the data available with the ministry, on March 2, 355 flights departed and 344 flights arrived at the country’s airports.

According to reports, several ships have been attacked in the Strait of Hormuz, which is an important source of global energy flow.

About one-third of the world’s seaborne crude oil exports and about 20 percent of liquefied natural gas shipments pass through the Strait of Hormuz. It is between Oman and Iran and connects the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea.
