At some places, there is a warning of storm blowing at a speed of 40 km per hour, while at some places an alert of rain with thunder and lightning has been issued. The heat has already started showing its effects in many states. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red alert in five states. This double attack of weather on the day of Holi is increasing the worries of the people, strong sunshine during the day, strong winds in the evening and light rain in some areas. There is also a possibility of snowfall in the hilly states.

According to IMD, the maximum temperature in north-west and central India may go above normal by 4 to 6 degrees. A new western disturbance will be active between March 4 and 8, which may cause rain and snowfall in the hilly areas and strong winds in the plains. However, after Holi, further increase in temperature may be seen.

There is a possibility of heavy rain and winds at a speed of 40 km per hour in Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh on March 4. There may be rain and thundershowers in Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh. Light to moderate winds will blow in Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha.

The weather is expected to be normal during Holi and thereafter in Delhi-NCR. Winds can blow at a speed of 10–15 km per hour. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 31 degrees and minimum 17 degrees Celsius. There is no rain alert at present, but dry winds may create dusty conditions.

UP-Uttarakhand

There may be light drizzle in some districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh, while heat will increase in western UP. The maximum temperature in Lucknow can go up to 32 degrees. There is a possibility of rain in Uttarakhand from March 8 due to the effect of western disturbance.

Bihar-Jharkhand

There are less chances of rain in Bihar, but the temperature can reach 32 to 34 degrees. Winds can blow at a speed of 15 km per hour in Jharkhand. The day may be hot and the evening may be slightly cool.

Punjab-Haryana

There is a possibility of strong winds and light rain on March 4. Dust storm like conditions may arise. Farmers have been advised to be alert regarding the safety of their crops.

Himachal and Kashmir

Due to active western disturbance between March 4 and 8, there may be rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. There is a possibility of increased slippage in high altitude areas.

Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan

The temperature in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan can reach 33 to 35 degrees. At present there is less chance of rain, but dry winds will increase the effect of heat.
