America counterattacks in Syria, air strikes on dozens of ISIS targets
Angered by the death of three of its citizens in Syria, America has launched a major military operation against the terrorist organization Islamic State of Syria and Iraq (ISIS). On Saturday, the US Army carried out air strikes on dozens of ISIS targets. This action has been taken in response to the attack on December 13 in the city of Palmyra in central Syria, in which two American soldiers and a civilian interpreter were killed, while three other soldiers were injured.
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth issued a statement saying that ‘Operation Hawkeye Strike’ has been launched in response to the Palmyra attack, under which ISIS fighters, their bases, infrastructure and weapons stores were targeted. Giving a stern warning, he said that if Americans were targeted anywhere in the world, America would pursue, find and eliminate the attackers. Hegseth claimed that ISIS has suffered heavy losses in these attacks.
