Aam Aadmi Party alleges Kejriwal attacked by ‘BJP goons’ during Vikas Puri march

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was allegedly attacked during a foot march in Delhi’s Vikas Puri, the AAP said. The incident reportedly involved shoving and pushing, adding to the tensions at the gathering.

AAP has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of orchestrating the attack, claiming that police officers stood by without intervening as BJP “goons” engaged in the altercation. The party has condemned the incident, blaming BJP for lax security measures. This clash is expected to further intensify the political climate in Delhi, with party leaders and supporters now calling for justice and improved safety.

Party leaders condemn attack

Party leader Saurabh Bhardwaj warned the BJP  that they will responsible ‘f anything happens to Kejriwal. “When ED, CBI, and jail tactics didn’t work, now the BJP is resorting to attacks on Arvind Ji. If anything happens to Kejriwal Ji, the BJP will be directly responsible.”

AAP leader Manish Sisodia took to social media to condemn the attack on Arvind Kejriwal, calling it extremely worrying and deplorable. He alleged that the BJP orchestrated the assault using its goons. “The attack on Arvind Kejriwal is extremely condemnable and worrying. It is clear that the BJP has carried out this attack through its goons. If anything happens to Arvind Kejriwal, the entire responsibility will be on the BJP. We are not going to be afraid—the Aam Aadmi Party will remain steadfast on its mission,” Sisodia wrote.

Saurabh Bhardwaj further claimed that Arvind Kejriwal was engaging with locals and children when certain “BJP goons” tried to attack him. He added that the BJP is struggling to accept the wave of support and affection Kejriwal is receiving from the people of Delhi.

Atishi slams BJP’s ‘dirty politics’

At a press conference, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi condemned the incident, saying that Delhi residents have witnessed the depths of BJP’s “dirty politics.” “Arvind Kejriwal was attacked by BJP goons during his Vikaspuri padyatra. The BJP knows it cannot defeat AAP and Arvind Kejriwal at the polls, which is why they have resorted to such tactics and even seek to harm him,” she said.

Akhilesh Yadav condemns attack

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav condemned the attack. He said, “The news of the attack on Mr. Arvind Kejriwal during the padyatra in Delhi is both condemnable and concerning. It need not be said who orchestrated this attack. Everyone knows whose political principles have been based on violence and hatred in Indian politics. Being violent is a sign of defeat.”

BJP responds

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva responded to the allegations, questioning why Arvind Kejriwal appears “rattled” if people are simply seeking answers. He said that Janakpuri residents offered Kejriwal contaminated water to drink. “AAP only uses disappointment, desperation, and fake narratives,” Sachdeva added, dismissing AAP’s criticism of BJP on social media.
