Now the news is that taking this story forward, preparations are being made to bring its sequel in the name of ‘4 Idiots’.

When will the shooting of the sequel of ‘3 Idiots’ start?
According to recent reports, Aamir Khan and director Rajkumar Hirani are ready to return to this classic world once again. It is being told that Kareena Kapoor Khan, R. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi will also be a part of this franchise once again. Rajkumar Hirani plans to bring this comedy-drama film on the floors by mid-2026.
How far has the work on the script reached?
According to sources, the story of the sequel of ‘3 Idiots’ has been finalized and currently work on the screenplay is going on at a fast pace. It is expected that the script will be completely ready in the coming few months. If everything goes as per plan, the film may go on the floors for shooting around June-July 2026.
Why is this project closed now?
After ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’, Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani were going to work together on another film. It was discussed that both are working on the biopic of Dadasaheb Phalke, the shooting of which was to start in January 2026. However, Aamir Khan did not like its script. Despite changes in the script, things did not work out and ultimately the project was stopped for the time being. After this both of them decided to focus on the sequel of ‘3 Idiots’.
