Aamir Khan and Twinkle Khanna have worked together only in their entire film career. The film ‘Mela’ released in the year 2000. Even though this film may not have done anything special at the box office, there are some interesting stories related to the sets of this film. In 2015, during the launch event of Twinkle Khanna’s book ‘Mrs Funnybones’, both these actors had revealed some very interesting and funny secrets from the sets of the film ‘Mela’.
During the event, when famous film maker Karan Johar quipped to Aamir Khan, ‘How was your experience of working with Twinkle? Have you ever felt that she is a good actress? Aamir was still thinking of the answer to this question when Twinkle interrupted and narrated a funny incident. Twinkle said, ‘No, no… Once he asked me, ‘What are you doing? Why are you behaving like this? You are not concentrating on work at all. To this I replied, ‘I am thinking about Akshay.’ Hearing this, Aamir was about to slap me. I still remember, we were shooting somewhere outdoor.
Is Twinkle a good actress?
Hearing this, Aamir was surprised and said, ‘Did I do this? No!’ To this Twinkle immediately replied, ‘Yes!’ Then Aamir laughingly clarified, ‘I don’t react like this.’ Then Twinkle handled the matter and said, ‘Yes, you just made a strange face.’ When Karan again asked Aamir if he considered Twinkle a good actress, Aamir jokingly said, ‘I think she was fantastic. We all have different qualities, and I mean it. Twinkle has amazing talent in some very unique things like insulting people. He is an expert in insulting people. Ever since I have known him, he has just insulted me continuously my whole life.
Aamir Khan was crying behind the rock
In the same event, Twinkle Khanna shared another incident related to Aamir, which left everyone stunned. Twinkle told that she once caught Aamir Khan crying hiding behind a big rock. Narrating the incident, Twinkle said, ‘Aamir had gone to Dharmesh Darshan, the director of the film ‘Mela’, to explain one of his shots, but the director did not listen to him. Now since Aamir is very serious about his work, he was heartbroken. After some time, I saw that he was crying sitting behind a big rock.
‘It was an amazing experience’
On this statement of Twinkle, Aamir made a strange face and laughingly said, ‘Look what Twinkle is doing. But to be honest, working with him was an amazing experience. I later realized that behind his bubbly and carefree style was hidden a very intelligent, sharp-witted and quick-witted person. His understanding of human behavior and relationships is excellent, which impressed me a lot.
