‘Privilege Committee should show Kejriwal’s appearance live for transparency’- Saurabh Bhardwaj

Delhi News: Aam Aadmi Party has demanded transparency regarding the proceedings of the Privilege Committee of Delhi Assembly. The party says that when national convenor and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal appears before the committee, the entire proceedings should be telecast live.

The public should get information about the entire process

Delhi State President Saurabh Bhardwaj said that if the former Chief Minister has been called before the committee in any important matter, then the public should also get information about the entire process. He said that transparency is very important in a democracy and that is why the proceedings should be shown live. Besides, journalists should also be invited to the committee meeting, so that they can do impartial reporting.

There is no scope for misunderstanding if the proceedings are live.

Saurabh Bhardwaj said that the committees of the Assembly are accountable to the public. Whenever any big issue comes up, many questions arise in people’s minds. In such a situation, if the proceedings are live, then there is no scope for any kind of misunderstanding. He said that even when Aam Aadmi Party was in power, transparency was maintained in many important matters and the proceedings were telecast live when necessary.

The AAP leader also said that if Arvind Kejriwal himself has demanded live streaming, then no one should have any objection to it. The public has the right to know the truth and the democratic process should be open.

This appeal was made to the Assembly Speaker

Saurabh Bhardwaj appealed to the Assembly Speaker to take a clear stand on this issue. If the proceedings are telecast live, then the information should be made public. If this is not done, the reasons for the same should also be explained. He said that only transparency strengthens democracy and maintains public trust.

The party says that the proceedings of the Privileges Committee are a constitutional process and it should be done openly. This will not only increase public trust but will also ensure accountability in the political system.

Transparency important in important political process

Aam Aadmi Party believes that transparency is most important in any important political process. Through live streaming, the public will be able to see directly what questions are being asked and what answers are being given in the committee. This will not create any kind of rumor or confusion. At present, all eyes are on what decision the Privileges Committee of the Assembly takes on this demand. If the proceedings go live, it will be considered a new initiative. If this does not happen, then the political discussion on this may become more intense.
