AAP angry over Pratap Singh Bajwa’s remarks, says Congress leadership should apologize unconditionally

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab on Friday, on behalf of Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa, appealed to Punjab Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh E.T.O. Strong demonstrations were held across the state to protest against the shameful, casteist and derogatory comments made against. The party said that this is an insult not only to one minister, but to the entire Dalit community and the hardworking people and laborers who earn their livelihood with dignity.

Publicly apologize to working people

A large number of AAP leaders, ministers, MLAs, party workers and local residents participated in these demonstrations. The protesters raised slogans “Down with anti-Dalit Congress” and “Down with Bajwa”. During this, it was demanded that Bajwa and the Congress led party should publicly apologize to the Dalit community and all the working people.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab media in-charge Baltej Pannu claimed that the anti-Dalit mentality of Congress has once again been exposed before the people of Punjab. Pannu warned that the party will not allow anyone in the state to humiliate the Dalits or hurt the dignity of the working class people.

clearly reflects the old history of humiliating

Baltej Pannu said that Bajwa’s language clearly reflects the Congress Party’s deep hatred towards Dalits and its long history of humiliating marginalized communities out of political arrogance. He said that while AAP believes in governance, education, health, employment and public welfare, Congress leaders like Bajwa are still stuck in the same feudal and casteist mentality which Punjab has repeatedly rejected.

Baltej Pannu said that Bajwa’s comment is also a direct insult to the working people of Punjab, especially the band-baja players, daily wage laborers and other artists who work tirelessly during weddings, religious functions and social events.

Pannu challenged the Congress high command

Baltej Pannu challenged the Congress high command to clarify whether Pratap Bajwa’s casteist language is the official thinking of the party? Does Congress stand with Bajwa’s derogatory comments? Will the Congress President and senior leaders publicly condemn them, or will they again remain silent, as they have always done when Dalits are attacked or insulted? Baltej Pannu said that the silence of Congress itself proves that Bajwa’s statement was not a personal mistake, but is the real face and mentality of the Congress party.

Demonstrations were held across Punjab, including major demonstrations in Malerkotla and Ropar. Here a large number of local residents and band-baja artists along with AAP leaders and workers strongly condemned the anti-Dalit thinking of Bajwa and the Congress party.
